Web site hosted by the American Counseling Association (ACA). A not-for-profit, professional and educational organization that is dedicated to the growth and enhancement of the counseling profession. Founded in 1952, ACA is the world's largest association exclusively representing professional counselors in various practice settings.

By providing leadership training, publications, continuing education opportunities, and advocacy services to nearly 45,000 members, ACA helps counseling professionals develop their skills and expand their knowledge base.

The NEA's mission: To fulfill the promise of a democratic society, the National Education Association shall promote the cause of quality public education and advance the profession of education; expand the rights and further the interest of educational employees; and advocate human, civil, and economic rights for all. The NEA focuses their efforts to educate society on public education.

May 4, 2010 is National Teacher Day, a time for honoring teachers and recognizing the lasting contributions they make to our lives.

This year's Annual Meeting was held June 26 –July 6, 2009 in San Diego, CA. The first two days were devoted to meetings, conferences, and exhibits, followed by the four-day Representative Assembly (RA) — the Association's highest decision-making body. With over 9,000 delegates, the RA is the world's largest democratic deliberative body. Delegates debate issues that impact American public education and set policy for the 2.8 million member Association.

The association is committed to maintaining high standards that foster ethical and social responsibility among those involved in the transition process.

A nonprofit, tax-exempt organization based in Washington, DC. Primary mission is to help raise the level of awareness and understanding among professionals and the public of important issues in American education. Covers local, state, and national news and issues from preschool through the 12th grade.

AFT.org
The American Federation of Teachers (ATF) was founded in 1916 to represent the economic, social, and professional interests of classroom teachers. It is an affiliated international union of the AFL-CIO. The AFT has more than 3,000 local affiliates nationwide, 43 state affiliates, and more than 1.4 million members. ATF mission statement:

"The mission of the American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO, is to improve the lives of our members and their families, to give voice to their legitimate professional, economic and social aspirations, to strengthen the institutions in which we work, to improve the quality of the services we provide, to bring together all members to assist and support one another and to promote democracy, human rights and freedom in our union, in our nation and throughout the world."
